Breeding for health to preserve the breed

Specialist cardiologist testing for hereditary cardiac diseases in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel:
Kamontry dogs are tested yearly by a cardiologist. My aim is to have every dog that is mvd clear by aiscaltation echoed at the age of 5. This is in line with many European countries practices. It is not yet a standard practice here in Australua. Echocardiograms are more accurate. An echocardiogram will also pick up the presense of a prolapse. Auscultation only picks up the sound of a murmur. However the disease process can begin before the presence of an audible murmur. You cannot detect a prolapse via auscaltation alone.
I have included a link to the UK kennel club's recommendations for breeding. This protocol can only be followed if the dog has had an echocardiogram.
